PPPM: History of PPPM
The first traceable mentioning of the term “predictive, preventive, and personalized medicine” is the one by Leroy Hood. Throughout the period of the years 2003 to 2008, the term “predictive, preventive and personalized medicine” is being mentioned in the scientific literature predominantly in connection with genomics, pharmacology, and systems biology.
The situation changed with the first International workshop on Predictive Diagnostics, Targeted Prevention, Personalised Treatment, was organized in Brussels, Belgium, by European Medical Association (EMA) and F.W. University in Bonn. The term „predictive, preventive, and personalized medicine“ has been defined in more complex view in comparison with the initial one. EPMA founded
European Association for Predictive, Preventive, and Personalised Medicine (EPMA) was founded in Brussels as a non-profit association of the medical experts willing to develop and promote the concept of predictive, preventive, and personalized medicine. -
June 2009
Founded European Association for PPPM
Pilot publication on PPPM published
The pilot publication on the predictive, preventive and personalized medicine entitled Predictive Diagnostics and Personalized Treatment: Dream or Reality?, was published in New York by the experts of EPMA under the leading editor Prof. Dr. O. Golubnitschaja. In the particular field the book became a bestseller. -

The EPMA Journal launched by Springer
Printed version of The EPMA Journal was launched by Springer and EPMA as a unique peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to predictive, preventive and personalized medicine. -

The first EPMA World congress in Bonn, Germany
The beginning of the EPMA World Congresses and networking of PPPM experts. The message about PPPM and the EPMA visions were spread among the participants from over 43 countries from all continents, and well over 19 delegation from renowned organisations such as UN, WHO, EU Commission, EMA, NIH, EDMA, A. von Humboldt foundation, and other. Launched printed version of EPMA Journal
The EPMA Journal going on-line
The on-line version of the EPMA Journal started as an open access journal. Also the series of books on the Advances in PPPM were launched by Springer. -
June 2013
Launched printed version of EPMA Journal
PPPM chapter included in textbook for the first time
New medical textbook is publised on Internal medicine, authored by Slovak leading medical professionals, which includes a specific chapter on PPPM, as a perspective field which medical students, as well as medical professionals, should learn about.

The second EPMA World Congress in Brusells, Belgium
The EPMA Summit took place directly at the buildings of the EU parliament, thus bringing the new vision of healthcare directly to the politicians. The congress put together experts from over 40 countries and from different fields of expertise. The scientific and political significances are summarised here. -

EPMA Summit in Milan, Italy and Vision of PPPM center
EPMA Summit 2014 took place in Milan under the auspices of the presidency of Italy in the EU.* Also the visions of the PPPM center were published, and the working group wa defined.**

The fourth EPMA World Congress in Valletta, Malta
The opening ceremony was addressed by H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta. At this Congress EPMA representatives announced an intergovernmental agreement between the governments of the Slovak Republic and Russian Federation about the joint development and support for PPPM in the systems of healthcare. The EPMA Journal was ranked by Scopus #6/2016 at the category Health Policy with CiteScore 2017 being 3.81. -
May 2018

International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg, Russia
EPMA professionals, presenting PPPM from the multiple viewpoints, participated in the session dedicated to the future of healthcare at the SPIEF 2018 in Russia.
EPMA stimulated foundation of the legal entity PPPM Centre, s.r.o. in Slovakia in order to start with practical realization of the visions outlined in the previous publications, EPMA celebrates 10 years’ Anniversary of its foundation. -
